ABOUT TREBINSHUN HOUSE
Trebinshun House is a 16th Century manor house. It stands in extensive grounds with wonderful views across the valley. It is recognised as a building of architectural and historical interest and is situated in a National Park, which is an area of outstanding beauty.
Trebinshun House has been in the Watson family for many years and Robin and Liza have lived here with their family for the past 30 years when they first started the language school.
Both Robin and Liza spent their childhoods abroad in many parts of the world and lived in Paris before coming to Trebinshun House.
Our objective is to provide a perfect environment in which to learn, combining total immersion in English culture with the best in corporate language training.
SAMPLE PROGRAMME
Trebinshun courses are highly personalised, based on the initial testing and needs analysis, so no two courses are alike. However, our most popular course, the intensive combination course, consists of the following elements:

| 0900 – 1030 |
Oral expression: Students focus on fluency by delivering a presentation on a pre-prepared topic, usually leading onto a more open discussion. In the last half an hour of the lesson the teacher focuses on one or more language points arising from the discussion. Students then select 8 – 10 key sentences they would like to 'takeaway' from the lesson. The teacher types these onto a sentences sheet for each student and records them onto the students' personal recorder. These recorded sentences may be used in later lessons for revision or intensive listening practice. |
| 1030 – 1100 | Coffee |
| 1100 – 1230 | Listening: Students focus on developing listening comprehension while watching business skills training videos e.g. English for negotiating, presentations, meetings etc. The final part of the lesson focuses on some aspect of the language from the video: grammar, lexis or pronunciation. Again, students then select 8 – 10 key sentences they would like to 'takeaway' from the lesson. The teacher types these onto a sentences sheet for each student and records them onto their personal recorders. |
| 1230 – 1400 | Lunch |
| 1400 – 1530 | One to One: Individual lessons give students an opportunity to focus on areas specific to their individual requirements. This may include specialist vocabulary, or preparation and practice for a particular presentation. In this session, the teacher makes all of the notes on behalf of the student so that he or she can concentrate 100% on the language they are producing. These notes are then recorded onto the student's personal recorder. |
| 1530 – 1600 | Coffee |
| 1600 – 1730 | One to One: Again, these sessions are very individual and vary from student to student. The teacher will spend some of this time helping the student to prepare for the next day's presentation. Again, any notes are made by the teacher and are recorded onto the recorder at the end of the lesson. This means that the student has an oral as well as a written copy of all of the vital points from the lesson. |
